Hit by lightning

Of course not really. Stripes of light falling through the half-open shutter of the window next to me, sky is getting blue again.
The thunderstorm is over. It was so impressive. I like watching the heavy rain, storm and the lightnings. The days before yesterday where unbelieveable hot, so this thunderstorm was really necessary. The only negative thing about it was that there was blackout for more than an hour yesterday evening. I hate blackouts, because I need my PC, my laptop, internet and my TV. Ok, my laptop worked, but without internet it is not the same.
My dad pulled out his emergency backup generator but this doesn't help me with my internetproblem either.
So I had to wait an watch the weather. And it was beautiful.

back to my roots

It's again so hot - or better say it's still so hot. I've got a sunburn since yesterday and it hurts like hell. I hate the sun, but that's nothing new, so let's talk about something else.

Today I managed to get a Jakarta Tomcat Server running on my Laptop. It wasen't as difficult as I thought it would be. Thanks ubuntu.
I also installed eclipse again. Developers allready now what I am going to do now. Right - I will develop some Java webapplications. Just for fun. Maybe I will set a little webserver with a database up today. Might be usefull for my webapps, but this depens on how much power I will have left when I come home in the evening.

P.S.: Just for those who want to know - I have redesigned my Ubuntu desktop. Have a look.

light on the horizont

So it's friday. Finally. This week was really not easy for me. I still feel that I slept to less in the last 10 days. Always tired and so much to do at work. I like it when there is much to do, but I hate it when nothing seems to work like I want it to.
But I can allready smell the air of peace and freedom. Weekend is coming closer to me. Just a few hours and my sweety walks up the stairs on the railway-station where I pick her up. Today I haven't planed anything else, I just want to relax. Tomorrow it's getting a bit more busy. At 11AM - and that's very early for a saturday - I am allready on the way to the lake with my sweety and a good friend. Than in the evening I plan to cook for some friends. Asian Style. I'll give my best and hope that they will like it.
I am really looking forward for a glas of the Red Breast Wiskey my little angel gave to me for birthday. I don't think I will do something great today, I think I will sleep a lot, with my angel by my side.

hot as hell

I think my brain is allready burned because of this unbelieveable heat. I am sitting in my office at work and nearly swimming in my own sweat. The weather station says that the temperature is about 30 degrees C, but it feels so much hotter. When I am looking out of the window I can't see a single cloud, just blue sky and the sun. It is hard to work under this conditions.
Where is my mind? It's swimming in sweat and it's screaming for help. When I get home today, the first thing I will do is to take a cold shower.

inside the nova

As the sun was touching the horizont on this evening my mind was free and there was nothing to worry about. I arrived just a few hours before with a 60kg bagpack filled with clothes, food, beer and other stuff like a torch and batteries and a tent. I was totaly exhausted after this journey from klagenfurt to nickelsdorf, but I in this moment sitting in the gras with a beer in my hand and my sweety next to me I was happy like I haven't been for a long time.
This night we went to the partyzone to celebrate our arrival. When we got back to our tent late at night it was freezing cold. I slept like a baby next to my sweety. We thought we could sleep till 1 PM or so, but at 8 AM the sun was so hot that it was impossible to stay in the tent.
So we got out and walk around through the area. It was great to see how much people there were. About 150.000, living in tents or caravans. The red stage was very close to us and the the blue one was just a few minutes of walking away.
In the evening we saw the Queens of the stoneage and Metalica and it was so great I can't even believe it right now.
Sabrina, Hansi, my girlfriend's sister, my sweety and me had a great time.
Every day was a new great experience. All this people, bands like Apocalyptica, Guns'n'Roses, Deus and many more. I think I had a time I will never forget. I don't know how I can make you understand what I mean. So I think pictures are telling more than words.

Sweety, if you read this, I just want to say and I want everybody to know, that I love you more than anything else I know and that I am so happy that I was able to spent these days with you. It was such a great time being so close to you at such a great place. I'll never let you go.

absolut linux

Ubuntu forever. Ok let's say for the moment. Today I installed Ubuntu 6.06 LTS on my laptop as the only OS on it. It is really amazing how fast you can format your pc and install a fully working ubuntu with every software you need. No troubles, no complications, no windows. I love it.
Also my desktop got a whole new look, but I think this will change every two weeks or so. A bit more blue this time. Also the games like ut2004 and WarCraft III are allready working. I think really everyone should give Ubuntu a try, because if you got used to it, there is nothing better.

happy birthday to me!

So finally it's the 12th of june and I am 19 now. Real unspectacular. I am not excited. Everything feels like yesterday, nothing changed. That's not bad folks, I am happy about that. I don't want anything to change, because what more can i expect than having everything I want?
I don't want to look back now, the last year was really extraordenary, but I think I've said enough about it.

Just say, I feel lucky to be me, no matter how old I am.

unreal

Dear Blog!

Today I feel kind of unreal, because all the things happening to me at the moment and all the things that will happen to me in the next few days are so unbelieveable.

Sorry for that, but I always wanted to start an entry like that.

Lets begin with the less importent things.

unreal tournament
Ubuntu suprises me every day. I never thought i could install a 3d game just like with Windows and then run it and it works perfektly using linux. Unreal Tournament 2004 does. It has a grafical Linux installer which installs the game like the Windows installer. Then you edit a single file to have fullscreen ( I had to change 4 numbers in the file - every monkey can do that ) and the game works perfectly. I love my Ubuntu.

Now let's get to the more importent things.

unreal age
I am nearly 19 now. There are just 4 days left, than I am not 18 anymore. This year the feeling isn't that strange as it was last year. Getting 18 was very scary. Don't ask me why. I feel good about getting 19 and I am feeling very happy about getting 19 with my sweety by my side. She makes me the happiest guy alive. And that's what feels unreal. Unreal good.

unreal rock
Next wednesday at 10:45 I will walk into a train which will bring me, my sweety and some of my friends to the novarock festival. I am so excited. Metallica, Queens of the Stoneage, Guns'n'Roses, Appocalyptica and many more. LIVE! This will be a great time. Sleeping in a tent, party all the time. That's what I need. Unreal perfect.

the drake has landed

Finnally Ubuntu 6.06 LTS "Dapper Drake" is here and it is the greatest OS I've ever seen. It supports nearly every possible hardware ( in fact a lot more than I need ) runs fast and stable and If you spend some time in styling it, it looks extremly great and there a so many possibilities how you can style your Gnome-Desktop.

Corner xmms, icons looking like glass, startup-bars, dynamic 3d desktop switcher, transperant system watchers, moving 3d cursor and all that in a system which runs stable and free of critical errors, blue screen, viruses and all that stuff microsoft sells to us.

But the most surprising thing for me was that even one of my favourit games (WarCraft3) works perfectly (in fact even better, because on ubuntu i got widescreen. I don't have this with windows)

I just can tell every one to use Ubuntu instead of Windows, because it is simply better. Try it and you understand me. Just for them, who want to play newer games it can be tricky, because games aren't the strengh of linux at the moment (but i believe this will change in the following years) I solved this problem by having a windows and a Ubuntu/Linux system installed on my pc, but in my case Windows is really just used for gaming newer games and nothing else. for work, home office, grafix, internet, multimedia and everything else I use Linux. Because the software is better, a lot safer and the best thing about it - It's free. So give it a try and believe me, when you got used to it, you will love it.
