My bags are packed - hope I didn't forget about something importent - and I am ready to go. After work I will go to a xmas party and tomorrow I am going to the house in the mountains. I am so glad that my holidays are just a few hours away.

Mery Xmas to all of you!

get ready for christmas

Yesterday I finished the presents and the checklist I made to remember myself what I have to take with me.
Today I will do the hard work - Packing my stuff. I have to do it today, because it's the last day before I leave home for 12 days.
Tomorrow will be a cool day. After work I'll driv to villach to a xmas party at villach. I am really looking forward to this. On saturday I'll drive into the mountains where the rest of my family allready waits for me. At this plays I will stay for a while, celebrating xmas and new year.

the cursed door

Standing up in the morning is always cruel, but today it felt like I am cursed. After putting myself together, dressing up and leaving the bathroom I went to my car. As usual.

I opened the door - as usual - and got myself into the car. Then I wanted to close the door, but....

THE DOOR DID NOT CLOSE!

It opened itself every time I tried to close it. It took me 15 minutes to close and lock it to make it stay closed. As I arrived at work the door closed like nothing had happened and without any problems. How could something like this happen?

...won't worry about it....

Cables Chaos X-Mas

Xmas is comming closer. Haven't packed the present yet, but I began to think about all my multimedia things.
Where ever I go my PSP is allways with me. I will be at the house in the mountains for about 10 days, so my PSP must come with me. To keep it dry and warm I need 4 different bags for every way of transport. Further I need a cable to charge it and a special USB connector cable to connect it to my laptop.

My laptop. 10 Days without it? No way! So I need the laptop-bag my Logitech G5 mouse, power cable and the card reader, for transferring the pictures from my digicam.

Also my digicam also has to come with me and according to that both accumulators, the charging station, theUSB connector cable and the AV connector cable won't stay at home.

Also my Xbox 360 has to come with me because there is a HD TV there - can't miss that chance. Taking the Xbox 360 with me includes to take two wireless controllers, charging kit, games, power cable and HDMI cable with me.

Thank god my car is big enough, because after putting all this into it I have to add the presents and clothes.

You see beeing a geek isn't that easy. Welcome to my cable chaos X-mas!

lucky snow

YEAH!!! IT'S SNOWING!!!!

OK, just a bit, but it does. This means in the mountains it may snows a bit more, so there maybe enough snow to have fun when my holidays at the house in Turrach begins.

I wasn't really in a christmas mood, because of the warm weather, but now I am.

HIHI... SNOW.....

Happy is what I am.....

a week , today, and everthing else

SICK! Yes last week wasa bad week for me. I fell ill last monday and styaed ill the whole week. It was cruel. Slept from monday to thoursday. I don't want to tell more about, it was so terrible.

Today I feel very well again. Work is fun and it is the last week before my x-mas holidays.

This is a picture taken by a webcam just a few minutes ago at the turracherhöhe, which is the place I will spent my holidays at.
I was there two weeks ago and I was shocked! NO SNOW! It was a lot to warm, but now it seems as snow is comming and maybe it will be enough to build a little snowbar for the new-years-party.

I am really looking forward for my holiday. My last one is so far in the past.

Catching light - Calling it reflection

My Picture archive is complete now. Works fine. I added a link in the link section in the sidebar - My Pictures. This link guides you to a subsection of my homepage. I try to keep it up to date and I'll try to add new pictures as fast as I can., so have a look every now end than.

The new forum system is still in development. Nothing to test so far, but I think it won't take me too long to finish it.

WHY SHOULD I SLEEP?

Life

Coding is fun. I spent the last two evenings with creating a little picture gallery. Will use it. The next thing will be a new forum. These two things were the only things that somebody used on my hp. so i think I will reduse my hp two these things. Two completly independent things. Easy to refactor.

I am bretty happy that this week work end on thursday, but who isn't happy about that? Today I am alone at work. A bit boring, but work lets time go by pretty fast.

Life isn't that bad.

mCORE phase1 - Complete

Found a funny IT-Hardware shop yesterday.
Wanted to buy a Case, but....

Bought a lot of things:
  • D-Link PCI USB 2.0 Card
  • Ultra-Silent Fan
  • LG DVD-Drive
  • Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

After putting it all together (a lot of work) I connected it to my TV. The Ubuntu LIVE-CD worked fine until the X-SERVER started up. Then the screen was black.
So I decided to use a simple Monitor to configure everything.

Ok it looks a bit wired. Today I try to get the TV connection working. I hope it is just a problem with the screen resolution.
Then I have to install all the multimedia packages such as mplayer, xmms and so on.
After this phase 1 is complete.
Phase 1 you ask? Yes phase 1. The next step - not sure when this will happen - is to add a TV-Card and build my own Harddrive Recorder to record TV. I Hope.

One additional thing to do is to mod the case. Fun work. Paint, lights, fans. Maybe next week.
So let's see what happens to this project. You can read about this here soon.

pile of broken glas

..that's how it feels.
Chaos is the beginning of everything - I hope!
Yesterday I managed to get a connection to my TV. After this I dismantled everything. Now I have a huge heap of micro-electronic.
My first idea was to build my own custom case. I came, I saw, I resigned. So I will buy a suiteable case today.
The next challenge is to get a operating system that fits my needs. Ubuntu? Of course, but Gnome is a little to heavy.
So I will install Fluxbox after configuration work is done.
What will happen then? I don't know. I will write about soon.

PS: Here are some more pics of my work at the moment!

M-CORE Project

I have a dream...
Some time ago I wanted to build a multi-media center for watching dvds, digital movies (avi, divx, mpeg, ...), playing mp3, cda, .... etc.
That doesn't seem to be a problem, that can't be hadled by my dvd player, but - and here comes the point - I want it to have a harddisk and a firefox for browsing the internet!
So I have to build a customized pc.
My first plan was to customize an old dell Desktop, but there was no AGP bus on the motherboard so I had no chance to connect a graphic card with S-VIDEO output.
Now my plan is to mod my sister's old pc. A lot of work, it seems.
I will write about my troubles and advantages soon.

I played on emergence day

Friday 17th of November 2006:
Putting the Game into my XBOX 360 - Watching a boring EPIC LOGO fly over the screen of the HD TV at home - Entering GEARS OF WAR main menu.
Me and my girlfriend began with the CO-OP campaign. The first pictures we saw weren't really impressive, but....

...just a few seconds later we were stunned by a graphical perfection we have never seen before and a really cool movement and camera system.

I won't tell you much about the story, but I can tell you that it is worth watching the cutscenes. (everything made with this great ingame graphic - Unreal3 Engine Rocks!!)

The gameplay is really really cool. Keeping your head down is the only way to survive. Hiding behind walls, cars, or anything else that's big enough and jumping from a safe place to the next. You can just fire some shots blind out onto the field or stand up for a second to get some precise shoots. I think my words can't explain how great this feels and looks. You have to do it on your own.
The Locust Horde - your enemies - aren't only ugly big and brutal they also act very tactical. You will never see one of them standing in the field just waiting for you to end its virtual existance. They are allways hidden behind something that's big enough and just lean out to do a few very pricise shots or to give one of the other enimies cover.
Sounds difficult? Sounds like a lot of fun!

Multiplayer:
JUST GREAT! Playing with some other guys a 4on4 deathmatch in a photorealistic enviroment with endless tactical possibilities is so much fun.
XBOX-Live really does a good job. Nearly no lags and very high framerate.

I played nearly all the time this weekend and I am really looking forward to play more multiplayer matches this week and finishing the Campaign in CO-OP next weekend.

EVERY WHO IS LOOKING FOR A REASON TO BUY A XBOX 360 - GEARS OF WAR! One of the best games ever.

UNCUT FOR AUSTRIA

I hope this pic says more than a thousand words. Lucky day for austrian xbox 360 owners like me. GEARS OF WAR - UNCUT! I LOVE IT FOLKS!

release date

Today it is the 17th of November 2006. It is early in the morning and I am sitting at work. In a few hours I will run to my car and go to a games shop. I realy hope that the realse dates of the two games I was wating for so long is realy today.

That's one them. I have allready played the demo and I was extremly impressend. After Tony Hawks 2 the series got worst with every new version, but this demo makes me feel like this one could be the best I've ever played!

The other one is GOW. Gaming magazins are talking about it as the best game 2006. It won't come out in germany, because it is to brutal. I am a lucky austrian.

So lets hope I will find what I am looking for today.

I don't know what I am ought to say!

I've got an F and C and I've got a K too. The only thing that's missing is a....

Sorry, I can't get this song out of my head.

...like U.

I feel like my creativity has forsaken me. I don't know what to say, to do or anything else. Damn.

a overhasty speech

Dignified audience!
First I want to thank all you guys walking this path with me for two long years. It wasn't easy and it won't get better I think. We all through away our selfs and trusted the ones that guided us. Now we know better. Trust does no longer exist. Dependence is the only thing that keeps us following this path.
I learned a lot of things in the last two years. About trust, deception, friendship, worship, truth and that this world isn't like it seems (and that everybody knows this, but no one is man enough to say so).

I learned that a word doesn't mean anything. I learned that beeing your self and giving your best doesn't help you at all. I learned to cope with this.

My TV hates me!

TV is getting worse every day - nothing new, but yesterday I really felt like TV hates me!!!

I was watching TV-Total and Stefan Raab's showband was playing a Metallica song while a german wannabe rockstar entered the studio.

I do not say that the band is bad, but for me hearing this band playing a Metallica song, is like hearing Tori Amos (and that's not bad enough) playing NIRVANA songs!

In fact she did play nirvana songs. Some years ago I found a 'Smells like teen spirit cover version' by Tori Amos. That was scary.

So after this shock of seeing a showband playing and destroying a song from metallica, TV gave me the next frustrating thing to look at.
Sky Du Mont with an Alien-Ware laptop playing the new Anno-Game. I don't know if Sky is interessted in computer games, but I AM! - Ok I don't care about Anno, but about the Alien Ware Laptop. For the first time in my live I envy Sky Du Mont!

TV hates me and TV likes to frustrate me. Just think of any washing powder commercial. They are uncreative, senseless, unrealistic and the actors are allways so bad! Or think about soaps or telenovelas or rington commercials! Look what they have done to my former best friend! My TV.

Hello, Mr White.

Close your eyes and see the sky is falling.

Ok, it's snowing, but it always feels funny when you wake up in the morning and the first snow covers everthing outside the window.

I like mornings like this, even if it means that traffic is pure chaos. When I was driving to work today I wasn't really pissed of by traffic chaos, because the snow made me feel like nothing could be so bad as to make me feel bad.

So, let it snow, let it snow, let snow!

a 'monday' like no other.

Sry, but I really like this pic. Itsn't it better than any boring progressbar?

So here comes what I really wanted to say. I am a bit confused. It is monday - ok in fact it is thursday, but it feels like monday. Isn't that funny?

Ok in fact it is kind of wired to have two days that feel like monday in one week. Who this could happen? Easy. Yesterday was a hollyday. I like hollydays at the middle of a week.

Usually these 'monday' don't feel so extremly like a real monday, but this one does. So let's hope that this friday tomorrow will feel like a nice short friday!

A few thoughts running through my mind:
If I go crazy, will you still call me superman? - thx to three doors down.

Halloween Horror Story - Chapter 2

Good evening children.

Halloween is just a night away so it's getting time for me to tell you another horror story for bringing you in the right mood.

This story is called

THE BANE OF "DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME"

It all began saturday evening. I went to town with some friends to have a drink or two. (ok, maybe I had more than just two drinks, but who cares)
I got home at 2AM unsuspecting that something strange will happen very soon. I was very tired so I felt asleep very soon.
As I opened my eyes at sunday morning my big analog clock on the wall in front of me told me that it was 11:00AM. I didn't really cared about it, but as I saw my cell-phone I was a bit confused. It told me that it was 10:00AM. A nother look at my analog clock on the wall approved my suspicion.

SOMETHING HAS MANIPULATED THE TIME-WARP-CONTINUUM!!!!!

Maybe I am trapped in a time-trap. Maybe I made a time travel during I was asleep!

WHAT HAPPANED TO ME!!!

I tried to find some more clocks to look what time they showed me. They all told me that it is an hour to early. I was nearly getting crazy.

So I asked my best friend - Google - for help.
What I found out was even more horrific. In 1907 someone called William Willett wrote an essay with the title "The Waste of Daylight". Because of this a lot of countries decided to create the so called "Daylight-saving-time". This means that time is different in summer than in winter. Two times a year (ones in spring and ones in fall) clocks are jumping an hour forward or backward.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! THEY ARE STEALING TIME FROM ME IN SPRING!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! THEY ARE GIVING IT BACK TO ME JUST TWO DAYS BEFORE HALLOWEEN!

WHY?
The official reason is that because of the summer-time you don't need so much electricity because sun shines longer in the evening.
Isn't that stupid? In fact a study shows that we need even more electricity, because of the summer-time, because the heating cost in the morning in the colder month are much higher.

So what is the real reason?
Think about that and happy halloween to all of you!

Halloween Horror Story - Chapter 1

Good evening children.
Halloween is just a few days away, so I think it's getting time to tell you some scary stories to bring you in the right mood for this mystic night.

My first story is about the most evil thing in our food.

GLUTEN

If you don't know what that is, ask wikipedia ( -> Gluten )

A lot of food has a little sentence at the end of the ingridients list.

DOES NOT CONTAIN GLUTEN

So that means gluten are evil.

I think I have to explain this.
If it is worth to tell us that something doesn't contain gluten, it means that it wouldn't be good, if there were some. According to that and because the opposite of good is evil, gluten are evil. I think. *gg*

Now let me tell you about the scary thing that happened to me.
My sister brougth me a chees-corn snack. I was very happy about this. I really like chees.

But suddenly I recognized how evil they are!!!
There was a little warning on the backside, ( A very little warning!!!! ) telling me that there are gluten in it!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Gluten!
THE EVIL GLUTEN ARE GOING TO.....to.... to.................welll...........
..........give me a second...........

What are they going to do? During informing myself about gluten, I found out that there are gluten in a lot of food and if I don't have a genetical failure, they won't do anything.
So................

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! GENETICAL FAILURE!!!!

...oh... sry................... I just wanted to panic again.

So I got nearly killed by a heartattack, because of a little warning on the backside of a chees-corn snack. I think that's really scary. *gg*

Now I have to say good night children. I wish you nice dreams and beware of the gluten-warnings!

suddenly i understand

My girlfriend - also a apprentice of informatics - ones told she wants to get a gardener. Now I understand. during debugging through a VB6 project - the code is extremely confusing - I found a a variable which was probably the worst line of code I've seen.

intÜberIndex = 1

For those of you who aren'tr allready screaming : There is a Ü in this name. You can't use a letter like this in your code! That's not right! But the really shocking thing is, that this programm is in use and works - WITH THIS Ü IN IT!

It's so crazy. I am really upset now.

I want a pony, daddy! - YOU GET A MUSTANG

Thx Sun! Even if the name MUSTANG isn't correct anymore, it makes me very happy to hear that Sun brings out JAVA 6 in the first week of December this year! This is my xmas present from sun. I am really looking forward to it, because I heard so many rumors about it and how many cool features it should include.

According to Sun the release was planned for October, but there are some bugs that have to be fixed, Sun tells us.
I am not sad about the release-date beeing moved, because I prefer a stabel and well tested version.
So thank you Sun for making me such a great present for x-mas. I think I will like this toy!

Go-Live

I don't care if your world is ending today...

...Because I wasn't invited to it anyway... ... I don't really care what gentlemen prefer...

Good Job!

Demotiviert. 2.033.941 Sekunde bis es endlich vorbei ist!
Zu lange.

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

so this is real?

941, 942, 943, langsam.
Hört mich jemand? nein? egal.
Frage mmich jede Minute wieder warum ich bin wo ich bin - tue was ich tue. Sinnfrei.

18 mal die Augen öffnen.

Viel zu lange. Vergeudete Zeit. Erinnert mich an Beschäftigungstherapie.
Kreativität schläft. Produktivität langweilt sich. Motivation weit unter dem Grundwasserspiegel.

Themenwechsel - schnell.

vz = 7,75 + 4,15; //Vergeudete Zeit - Norm + Fahrzeit
rz; //Restzeit
rt = 18 //RestTage

rz = (vz * rt) * 3600

rz = 777600 Sekunden.

Tick - Tack. zu Langsam.

Sprunghaft

...war ich wohl schon immer. Patriot?

the hole - impressions part2

Here are some more pictures of the building-site in front and at directly in the garden of my families house. Just click the images to enlarge them.

First of all, thats how it look befor they started digging a huge.

Then one day these things appared behind our house. These things alone aren't really a problem but in combination with the fact that we can't enter our gateway by car it is a real big problem. We have 5 cars (one for everyone with a driving license) and we can't use our gateway or the garages to park our cars. So the only place to do so is next to the street behind the house, but unfortunately there is this container and the other stuff from the building site.

During the building process our garden turned into a building site, not usabel for anything anymore and this situation last now for about 2 month.

From time to time they use our gateway as a place to put their building equipment. In fact our gateway shouldn't be used as a part of the building site, that's simply not right. We can't enter it or use it!

During this building process the caused a lot of damage in our gateway, because construction machines were driving through our gateway. I don't think that's the way such a project should work.
Here are some of the damaged things in our gateway and that's a place that shouldn't be influenced by the building process because it has nothing to do with that.

The building site changes everyday, but I think these pictures should show you what chaos it causes everyday.

At the end of this post I just want to say that I am really pissed of about the way this project is done. It is a real big part of living quality for us getting lost, because of no or really bad organisation.

one more morning

Tomorrow I have to stand up for work the last time before my holidays begin. 2 weeks of beeing free of allday manners. I think I need it. My last holiday wasn't just yesterday, I was so far in the past that I can't really remember what I did in this free time.
I think I should write down my plans for this holiday here, so that everybody know why I am not at home.

After work tomorrow I'll take my car and drive to my familie's holiday-house in the moutains for celebrating my moher's birthday.
At sunday I'll leave the holiday-house and get myself to my girlfriend - in fact that means driving from one mountain to another.
There I'll stay untill Tuesday, because on Tuesday me and my girlfriend are going to murau until Thursday. I don't exactly know if I will directly return home again or if I will stay a bit in our holiday-house again, we'll see.

So after that there is still a week in which nothing is planed. That's what I call holiday!

the hole - impressions part1

Here are some pictures of the street and the building-site which I called garden once upon a time. I do not blaim anyone for this. In fact I am very happy about getting a new and stable bridge, but the fact that this takes so long is really annoying.
Just click onto the pictures to enlarge them for getting a better view of what I see every in front of my house.
