"Home sweet home" or "The pursuit"

I am living in a really little village, a very peaceful an quiet village.

But, today - I was just leaving the house to go to work - my grandfather told me that my mother - she was talking the dog for a walk in the wood - heard shots and people screaming and that even he had heard the shots.
I thougth maybe it was just a hunter shooting a deer, but who shoots a deer with 7 or 8 shots?
I got into my car and drove to work, but after 200 meters I saw a lot of police cars and a destroyed car on the street. Now I was pretty sure that something has happend. Nevertheless I had to go to work.
About 2 hours after I arrived at work I read the online news, and I read what happened this morning. The police chased a man - probably drunken - driving way too fast. They tried to stop him, but he didn't. So they destroyed the wheels of his car. In fact they were shooting at the wheels.
Like Hollywood. Just a few meters away from my "Home sweet home".

fibre optic cabel

I thougth and world is crazy and wired, but now I know it is also really funny. Some thiefs have stolen 11 kilometers (yes 11 kilometers!!! 11.000 meters!!!) of fibre optic cabel. Submarine cabel! This means they had to dive into the ocean to get it! - and it means that the internet is really slow in Vietnam.
How hardcore crazy is that? But,...

Thief A: "Let's steal some cables!"
Thief B: "Ok, but which cables?"
Thief A: "There are 11 kilometers of cables deep down in the ocean!"
Thief B: "But they are heavy and diving is dangerous and don't you think somebody will notice what we are doing?"
Thief A: "No. I think that's a good idea!"
Thief B: "Ok.."

I don't think that such conversations really happen, but I also thougth nobody would be so stupid as to steal 11 kilometers of cable!!

I hope they find and arrest these guys, not only because they have stolen cables but because they are so stupid and crazy!

all the little things

There are things we never think about. For example to give a directory the names "nul" or "con".

I explain it. If you are sitting in front of a Pc with Windows XP on it please try to create a directory with the name "con" or "nul".

Hehe...

Another one: Type "keiner mag die Zivis" (without the "" of course) into the windows standard editor notepad and save it for example as Text.txt. Then try to open it again by double clicking the file.

Hehe...

Check this out:

Or just type "answer to life, the universe and everything" into google. Ok it is joke from Douglas Adams, but i think it's funny that Google cares about this.

All the little things... We can't live without them...

I'm in love

Blackbox sun, won't you come and wash away the rain...
Ok I know that this is a - costumized - sungarden lyric (Black hole sun, won'Tt you...) but I think it fits really good to my wishes right now.

I wan't a sun blackbox. In my garden. Now!

http://www.sun.com/emrkt/blackbox/index.jsp

This is the coolest server ever! It is the first virtualized datacenter. It delivers 146 teraflops and can hold up to 2 PentaBytes of data. You can place this container everywhere you want. Plug it in.

but there is a second thing I would like to have in my living room. The Sun Fire E25K Server.

http://www.sun.com/servers/highend/sunfire_e25k/specs.xml

Why is the world so cruel? A geek like me without enough money to afford a sun. It is so unfair.

One liners

I can't stop laughing at the moment. You know CSI Miami? Every time it starts like this:
Some one is dies and then David Caruso takes on highs glasses and says something "cool". I it so funny. If I was David Caruso I wouldn't be able to do this hundred time without laughu´ing my head of.

And ones more:

C MAGIC

I am absolutly impressed.
I know that those of you who aren't programming won't understand this, but I have to publicate this. Just follow these steps with the code from below! ENJOY!

This has been circulating the net for the past few years.
It is a remarkable piece of code.

1) Cut out the following obfuscated C-code into a file, say xmas.c
2) At your unix prompt type: "cc xmas.c"
3) The program should compile without errors, now type "a.out"
4) It will compile under DOS as well.

5) No, it does not access the file system.
No, it does not access the network.

6) Your guess is as good as mine.

-----cut here (xmas.c)---------------------------------------------

#include
main(t,_,a )
char *a;
{return !0
t<3?
main(-79,-13,a+main(-87,1-_,main(-86, 0, a+1 )+a))
:1,t<_?main(>
:3,main ( -94, -27+t, a )&&t == 2 ?
_<13>

t<-72?

Recapitulation

The last time I was writting something here it was freezing cold outside and the world was buried by heavy white snow.
Today I left the house wearing a T-Shirt without feeling cold.

The reason why I haven't wrote something for so long is, because there wasn't much to tell.

But, a few things I like to tell you about this time. I won't tell you about the "millitant traffic circle fanatic", but about what I've learned and what I've done during the last month.

The last three weeks I spent with learning how to use Hibernate and tried to improve my JAVA skills. I think it worked bretty good. I am thinking about completly rebuilding my homepage. I just have to make a new one every now and then.
At the moment I have absolutly no idea what to do, but I think something will come to my mind sooner or later.

I also spent a few hours thinking about likeliness. I think there are three theories which you have to think about.

Murphy's law
If anything can go wrong, it will, and usually at the most inopportune moment.

increase likeliness
You just have to make something more likely until the likelyness is as high as it can be.

mathematical likeliness
If there are 2 possibilities, the chance for each of them to happen is 50%.

So Murphy's law tells us that the chance that something happens that should happen is 0%, according to the 'increasing likeliness' theorie the chance that something happens that should happen is 100% and the mathematic tells us that the chance that something happens that should happen is 100 diveded by the number of posibilities.

A simple example:

Flip a Coin - head or tail.
We bet on tail.

Murphy: 0%
increase: 100%
mathematic: (100/2)% => 50%

Avvarage: (0+100+50)/3 = 50%

Another example:

Throw a dice.
We bet on 6.

Murphy: 0%
increase: 100%
mathematic: (100/6)% => 16,6666666666666666666666666%

Avarage: 38,888888888888888888888888%

I will try to make some experiments with this and the tell you about this soon.
